This is one of my favorite pieces. It's a postcard from my grandfather to my grandmother as he was heading home from WWII, dated March 8, 1945. This was written before they started their family; in fact, it was exactly one year and two days later that their first child, Kathleen was born. The photo was taken soon after Bill returned; the date on the back is May 3, 1945.
